Update 0.6.1 - Map Overhaul, Story/Characters, Underground and Dynamic Materials
Story/characters :
- Added claw operator & driver
- Added characters & dialogue to every settlement
- Started adding story/dialogue in early stages, more polish will be done in the future
- Added 2 character functionality to settlements
- Added dialogue comments for delivering junk, cargo, and special deliveries, that changes depending on cargo condition
Paint jobs & dynamic materials :
- Retextured tank
- Snow will now build up on tank
- Rust will now build up on tank
- Paint will slowly decay over time
- Added “customization” menu where you can buy paint jobs and remove rust
- Ruined tanks now change depending on patreon tier and color (haven’t been added to act 1 map yet, but will be re-added asap)
Map/underground metro :
- Split game into 2 maps : act 1 map, and act 2 map (which will be added in the future). BA83L is now much farther from home
- Added long linear journey off to BA83L/act 2 map
- Made act 1 map more difficult (I think it was too smooth/flat before, feedback is appreciated)
- Lots of new deliveries for act 1 map
- Added underground metro area to act 1 map
- Added tons of new environment models by rafa <3
- New smoke particle effect for BA83L
- BA83L now turns off at night, giving a chance for the stars to come out. Will turn back on a few hours before sunrise, blocking the sun again.
- Added tutorials for new map. Old map no longer has tutorials. I plan on removing the old map in the next major update, since it has been a headache to keep up support for various reasons.
- Added street lights with bloom/fog billboards
- Added shadowless point lights to street lights to fake indirect light (fuck lumen, all my homies hate lumen)
Fragile/handle with care deliveries :
- Packages are no longer damaged from collisions with your storage bucket, elevator platforms or other packages
- Packages now more fragile overall (to account for above)
- Package values now lower with *any* amount of damage
Other :
- Added a permanent FPS counter to the screen, to help me with optimization going forward
- Turned on virtual textures for lots of textures
- Updated rust and concrete materials
- Added metal material
- Renamed and changed descriptions for old vs new map in main menu
- Added checkboxes to not sell some items in the sell window
- Adjusted turn speeds slightly
- Junk spawners now spawn junk when you get close to them, not all at once when the game starts. Should slightly help load times.
- Updated wires to use spline meshes rather than rope components, should be better for framerate
- Tweaked snow setting of weather a bit
- Time of day now saves
- Added option for togglable tread spikes
- Changed settlement interior ambience
- Updated main menu ambience
- Added rubble driving sound effect + code for it to work
- Added new train rail junk item
- Added kill zone for when you fall off cliff to BA83L
- Increased strength of lens flare
- Tank no longer auto-brakes
- Removed cancel delivery button (in the way it was previously added it was pretty much useless)
- Added credits for discord mod team, new team members, and new patreon supporters
- Added God
- Added Yuri
- Big sister is always watching
Bug fixes/optimizations :
- Fixed numerous issues with tank’s topology (polys hidden in mesh, useless subdivisions, ngons, oh my!)
- Re-unwrapped entire tank to fix stretching and distortions on textures
- Fixed inconsistent texture density in tank model. The treads and claw arm have been optimized and unwrapped already, but have yet to be retextured so their texture density is still absurdly high.
- Various UI fixes/improvements
- Fixed destination being “none” after respawning packages
- Fixed tank menu not closing sometimes
- Fixed quitting/opening game resetting keybinds
- Fixed bomb delivery not disappearing from deliveries log
- Cured radiotrician dementia
- Turned off external actors to stop the old map from fucking deleting itself
- Anti aliasing quality is now low by default, making the game about 10-15fps faster on my computer. I did a poll in my discord and proved nobody could tell the difference. In fact, people slightly preferred low quality since I didn’t label which was which. Epic quality anti aliasing is a scam.
- Renamed axel to axle
- Improved poly count of fairy light wires
- Removed duplicate wires from old map
- Removed wires hidden under mesh in old map
- Weather should now update instantly upon loading a save
- Fixed non-existent background ambience in new map
- Adjusted tank wheel collisions to be more accurate
- Optimized code for snow kickup particle effect
- Fixed upgrades not displaying properly
- Various bug fixes, improvements and performance optimizations to spline bridge generators
- Fixed useless global illumination setting in settings. It now turns on ambient occlusion, but it looks quite buggy so it’s off by default.
- Fixed invisible wire poles still having collision
- Fixed 2nd level of cruise control being useless
- Fixed sound not playing when drag selecting on elevator menu
- Redid how deleted actors are saved, previous method was causing tons of issues with dialogue resetting
- Removed useless raw fbx and png files that were in the game folders for some reason
- Deleted lots of old files that were no longer used, including 400~ mb worth of unused 4k bomb explosion textures, left over from the explosion pack I used for the thermobaric bomb... Honestly embarrassed I didn’t catch this sooner.
- UV fairy lights now toggle with your headlight rather than the time of day
- Updated death camera to be less buggy
- Probably some other bug fixes I forgor 💀
